Sustain Silent Writing (Chapter 2/3)
I never put so much thought into writing, but I am pleased with all the new found information and strategies. Spelling has been an area that I've been wanting to research the best practices on because it doesn't have much emphasis in today's classrooms. Students don't consider it that important because they think spell check takes care of that deficiency, but of course we know that spell check is not full proof and can be unreliable when typing homophones and words of that nature. And of course texting doesn't help the situation. It's not uncommon to see students use text language in their academic work. I don't have anything against texting. I'm actually an avid texter myself, but I just feel that students need to learn when to use each form of writing; this is similiar to speaking and behaving appropriately for the environment you're in.

Thank You Card (Chapter 6)
Hi Ogbe!
I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all the computer help you provide to me and my students. The work you do at CAMS is invaluable and I am extremely thankful for your expertise.
Sincerely,

Illustrations (Chapter 9) Below are the themes/lessons of possible children's book that I may write for my creative piece. Next to the first three themes are images that I thought could be used for the front cover illustration:
Helping out with baby brother/sister---- A picture of a little boy or a girl reading a book to their baby brother or sister
Treating other how you want to be treated----A picture of two kids shaking hands on the playground
Coping: Learning how to be the bigger person---- A picture in 3D mode with a small child growing bigger
Coping: Learning How to stay cool (Don't snap)
Being nice to family/friends even when another relative/friend comes around
Responsibility: Everything that leaves out must come back in
Responsibility: Juggling chores, school, and fun times

Posing Questions (Part III)
How do you keep conferences on track? Is there really enough time to conduct writing conferences with all of your students? How about the reading conferences you may also have to set up? Should it be seperate? Does it matter? Isn't structure during conferences important? How about if a student gets really excited and forgets about time constraints? How could you hurry themup without them feeling rejected and creating a wall that will keep them from being as forthcoming next time?

What is the effect of writing across the curriculu, and how can it be deepend?
My Response:Writing across the curriculum has a positive effect on students' attitudes towards writing. When the writing is brief and meaningful, students realize that writing is a wonderful way to think. Writing in different content areas provides students with many opportunities to perfect their craft and even begin writing for pleasure.
Jen's Response:I agree! Students positively see writing in all areas and they don't dread their LA class. Writing encourages thinking and processing of what they learn, which in turn results in gaining of information within the content areas. I totally agree with you!
